Alert: New Paralysis Ticks site around Oak Flats.
Wentworth Cottage Park has been the site of recent tick paralysis cases for us. Whilst it is most unusual to get paralysis tick in our immediate area, this park and also the scrubland between New and Old Lake Entrance road have both been the source of the most recent paralysis tick cases for our clinic.
There were also reports lasts summer of dogs getting paralysis ticks on local school grounds.
Whilst the newer generation tick products are safer and more effective, nothing replaces the need to do daily tick searches on pets during the tick season.
Read your products instructions well. Some products must be given with food to work.
All products have a delay time of anywhere from 8-72hours before they become protective.
